A bilingual captain

Captain Cangrejo knows every hidden corner of the Cádiz coastline.

They call me "Crab." Not because I'm grumpy or because I walk backwards, but because, like any fair-skinned tourist living in the south, my face is always red. It's just the Cadiz sun.

And the funny thing is, I didn't get here by choice… but by pure chance. My story began far from this sea: I was an honor student at Auburn University, headed straight for law school. But first, I decided to make a pit stop. I had studied Spanish and lived for a while in Salamanca—an experience I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone—so I returned to Spain for a couple of months…

My passion for the sea

At the end of those two months, Cádiz appeared. Two months turned into three. And after those three, my fate was sealed: I "missed" my return flight. Fifteen years have passed since then.

I've always been passionate about the sea and sailing. I always knew that one day I would have my own boat to share that passion with anyone who wanted to discover it. I didn't know when, where, or how… but here I am, happier than ever, as captain of SolShine.

If you're an Allman Brothers fan, you already know the song: Soulshine is better than the sun, better than the moon, and definitely better than the rain. The name isn't a mistake: it's a Spanglish nod. Sol, like "sun," and Solshine, sounding like Soulshine. A small tribute to my southern roots and the humor of Cádiz, which has taught me so much.

All aboard!

Cadiz has a thousand stories to tell, and I'm ready to share them—because this city, between history and surprises, never ceases to shine.
